How to handle daily stress

Stress can be described as the big issue of our time, according to experts. It’s true, we all experience it in our lives. We are always in a hurry to get things done, we drive neurotically from place to place, we quarrel with each other, our finances are a continuous worry in our minds, our mobile or lap top is never out of arm’s reach, as we frequently check our latest emails, and our working lives never seem to end. All of the above, along with many other moments of daily madness, paint pictures that are familiar to all of us.

What can help us to manage our stress? Experts suggest the following solutions, and from my personal experience I can say that they work, perhaps in different ways for each person.

  • Physical exercise on a daily basis, if possible
  • Relaxation activities and proper breathing technique (diaphragmatic)
  • Neuromuscular relaxation (release of built-up tension through relaxation of different muscle groups)
  • Proactively trying to solve the problem head-on
  • Controlling thoughts related to facts or situations that cause us stress (are they realistic or are they affected by our own negative thoughts?)
  • Optimistic and creative thinking
  • Proper time management
  • Defining priorities

To this, I add the following, based on my own opinion. Try to give yourself free time for a leisurely walk in nature or for a rest. Do not sacrifice your sleep for work, as it is essential for your health and well-being. Spend time with the people you love and do not neglect caring for your family. Last but not least, remember that pets can also reduce stress.
